Civil Engineer – Project Manager – Nanaimo, BC

We are currently seeking a full-time Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join our Nanaimo office team.

The successful candidate will have at least 8 years experience in municipal infrastructure and land development design and construction. This is to include water supply, well source development, distribution piping analysis and construction, reservoir design and chlorination systems; and sanitary sewer collection, forcemains, pump stations and sanitary sewer treatment systems. Familiarity with project development concepts, the ability to work in both a team environment and independently, working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MS Office applications and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Essential Responsibilities:

As a project manager, supervise an engineering project team to expedite project work from concept to completion.
Design of infrastructure for residential and commercial land development.
Feasibility studies/detailed design for water supply systems, well source development, distribution piping analysis and construction, reservoir design and chlorination systems; and sanitary sewer collection, forcemains, pump stations and sanitary sewer treatment systems.
Prepare construction specifications, cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports.
Conduct field reviews and inspections, topographic surveys, drainage systems and road and highway design.
Construction layout and contract administration.
Monitor and inspect construction projects.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Graduate from an accredited University with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Eligible or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
Eight years of progressively responsible work experience.
Experience with road works, water and sewer design/drafting.
Experience with design and construction for municipal infrastructure and land development
Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.
Familiarity with design standards and philosophy.
Strong land development experience is an asset.
A strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of MS Office.
Demonstrated ability to perform individually and as a member of project teams.
